BLACKETT LEAVES UNITED TO JOIN READING
Young defender Tyler Blackett has completed a transfer from Manchester United to Reading, the Championship club managed by Treble-winner and Reds legend Jaap Stam.
Blackett, born and raised in Hulme, is a graduate of the Academy who made his first-team debut under Louis van Gaal in August 2014 and went on to register 12 senior appearances that season.
The physically imposing defender, who can play at centre-back or left-back, then spent the entire 2015/16 campaign on loan at Celtic and made eight appearances in all competitions for the Scottish champions.
Blackett returned to United in the summer and featured in the friendly win at Wigan Athletic in July, although the 22-year-old talent has now decided to pursue another opportunity with competition for places so fierce alongside players including Eric Bailly, Daley Blind, Luke Shaw, Chris Smalling, Phil Jones and Marcos Rojo.
Stam was appointed as Reading manager in June and the Dutchman has overseen a mixed start to the season, with his team registering one win, a draw and two defeats from four Championship matches.
Everybody at Manchester United would like to wish Tyler, who has signed a three-year contract, good luck for the future.
