CAN CHELSEA AFFORD TO SIGN THIS PLAYER??...

€90 Million is a lot of money but Chelsea target is worth it

It’s widely rumoured that Chelsea have around €150 million to spend during the remainder of the summer transfer window, as manager Antonio Conte aims to reinforce the squad for the ongoing Premier League campaign. The Blues have been linked with a wide range of transfer targets following this revelation, and the latest reports are claiming that a significant portion will be spent trying to sign James Rodriguez from Real Madrid
The Colombian superstar shot to fame in the 2014 World Cup, and while he has been relegated to a bench role at the Bernabeu, Rodriguez remains a consistent performer for both club and country. The 25-year-old is highly-rated as one of the best attacking midfielders in the world, boasting a wide range of passes and a set-piece specialist.
Chelsea struggled with their attacking options last season, and Rodriguez would be the perfect solution to support the striker and keep the momentum up in midfield. Leadership and motivation were often lacking in the middle of the pitch at Stamford Bridge, but the target currently captains the Colombian national team and always wants to prove his worth. When the likes of Oscar and Hazard have been less than convincing over the past year, bringing in a player of Rodriguez’s calibre would go a long way to improving Chelsea’s chances of returning to the top-four, and potentially challenging for the title.
€90 million is a substantial amount to pay, but Chelsea have the funds to pull off the deal and still be able to reinforce another position. When the best teams in Europe are all weighing up offers for James Rodriguez, the Blues will know that he is well worth the money and would be an excellent long-term investment.
